Reported incidents of child abuse have been on the rise in the San Gabriel Valley. It is believed that economic and environmental stressors are major contributing factors to the rising incidents of child abuse.

Santa Anita Family Service has many programs to address the needs of children and their families to alleviate the stress that many families endure. These support programs are an integral component of Santa Anita Family Service.

The following services are available through our low-cost private pay sliding scale or with enrollment in one of the below funding sources (as specifically indicated).

  • Individual, Couples, Family, and/or Group Counseling
  • Parenting Classes
  • Case Management
  • Referrals & Resources

  • COUNSELING Community Service Block Grant– This grant provides no-cost counseling services to youth ages 12-17.  Available services include individual counseling, peer support groups, family counseling (including the youth), and substance abuse, teen pregnancy, and STD prevention. To be eligible, the participant’s household must meet current federal poverty income limits (as provided by County of Los Angeles Department of Public and Social Services) and reside in Los Angeles County Supervisorial District 5 with the exceptions of the cities of Arcadia, Duarte, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Monrovia, Pasadena, Sierra Madre, South Pasadena, and the unincorporated areas of Altadena.
  • PARENTING Community Service Block Grant – This grant provides no-cost parenting classes to participants whose household meets current federal poverty income limits (as provided by County of Los Angeles Department of Public and Social Services) and reside in Los Angeles County Supervisorial District 1 (with the exception of the City of Los Angeles).
  • RECREATION Community Service Block Grant– This grant provides no-cost before & after school activities, youth recreation & enrichment activities, and summer activities.  To be eligible, the participant’s household must meet current federal poverty income limits (as provided by County of Los Angeles Department of Public and Social Services) and reside in Los Angeles County Supervisorial District (with the exceptions of the cities of Arcadia, Duarte, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Monrovia, Pasadena, Sierra Madre, South Pasadena, and the unincorporated areas of Altadena).
  • ROSEMEAD Community Development Block Grant– Low- to no-cost counseling to Rosemead residents.
  • School District Programs – Provide no-cost counseling sessions to children and/or their families who are referred through local school districts who have contracted with us.
  • SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION Community Service Block Grant– This grant provides no-cost counseling services to youth ages 12-17.  Available services include individual counseling, peer support groups, family counseling (including the youth), and substance abuse, teen pregnancy, and STD prevention. To be eligible, the participant’s household must meet current federal poverty income limits (as provided by County of Los Angeles Department of Public and Social Services) and reside in Los Angeles County Supervisorial District 1 (with the exception of the City of Los Angeles).
