Simply put, we need your help. It’s simple math: the population of needy, poverty line San Gabriel Valley residents is increasing while financial support from the State and Federal level is decreasing.
The numbers are daunting and alarming. The San Gabriel Valley alone has more than 220,000 individuals identified as disabled…the total number of persons living under 100% of the Federal Poverty line is almost 20%...and the total number of persons living under 200% of the Federal Poverty line is almost 35% in our area.
These are people – not numbers. Young children needing breakfast. Mothers needing counseling. Grandmothers needing rides and skilled counseling.
The need is there, but the lack of funding is serious.
The truth is that many non profit counseling agencies in our area have had to close their doors. The financial pressure is too great.
It is our goal to have an open door for our residents and families in need, and to do so we are dependent on donations from the public.
Our contracts and grants only cover 70% of our costs. Donations DIRECTLY fund counseling and senior services, so you can rest assured that your greatly appreciated donation is going to residents in need of services such as counseling for substance abuse, senior health issues, child abuse and family services.
In fact, unlike many non-profits, Administration and fund raising costs amount to only 18% of our overall budget. Other non profits have Administrative costs that soar past 25%.
For more than 50 years we proudly provide many services to help literally thousands of our needy residents. We respectfully request your help to continue to grow our proud tradition for the next 50 years.
